SINEMA NGABUBURIT

Menikmati akhir pekan di bulan Ramadhan bisa lebih asyik sambil menonton film-film terpilih koleksi seorang pelukis senior Bandung yang juga pecandu film: Bapak A.D. Pirous. Sejak masa mudanya, Pak Pirous memang hobi mengoleksi film-film bermutu yang ia sering putarkan dan tonton bersama-sama teman-teman di rumahnya. Sampai sekarang koleksi filmnya sudah berjumlah lebih dari 4000 buah (dalam berbagai format: kaset video Beta dan VHS, Laser Disc, VCD, DVD).
Khusus untuk program Selasar Weekend Cinema kali ini ia memilihkan sejumlah film bernuansa Timur Tengah / Islami dengan genre yang beragam, dari mulai action, drama sampai romance. Semuanya menyentuh! Sehabis nonton kita juga bisa ngobrol-ngobrol, lalu menikmati tajil bersama-sama (untuk mereka yang berpuasa).

Yuk, datang ramai-ramai ke Bale Handap Selasar Sunaryo Art Space. Acara nonton bareng ini gratis!!!

A 12-year-old Afghan girl and her mother lose their jobs when the Taliban closes the hospital where they work. The Taliban have also forbidden women to leave their houses without a male "legal companion." With her husband and brother dead, killed in battle, there is no one left to support the family. Without being able to leave the house, the mother is left with nowhere to turn. Feeling that she has no other choice, she disguises her daughter as a boy. Now called 'Osama,' the girl embarks on a terrifying and confusing journey as she tries to keep the Taliban from finding out her true identity. Inspired by a true story, Osama is the first entirely Afghan film shot since the fall of the Taliban.

The story places two close friends, Palestinians Said and Khaled, recruited by an extremist group to perpetrate a terrorist attack in Tel-Aviv, blowing up themselves. However, things go wrong and both friends must separate in the border. One of them, maintaining in his purpose of carry the attack to the end, and the other will have his doubts about it.

Humble and introvert Muharrem lives in a solitary and meager existence of a prayer and sexual abstinence adhering strictly to the most severe Islamıc doctrines.He extraordinary devotion attracts the attention of the leader of a rich and powerful Istanbul religious group and he offers him an administrative post as a rent collector for their numerous properties. Muharrem's new job throws him into the modern outside world he has successfully avoided for so long. He soon witnesses conflict attitude toward alcohol consumption and goodwill.He notices that he himself has become proud, domineering and even dishonest.To make matters worse, Muharrem's inner peace is unnerved by the tormenting image of seductive woman who tempts him in his dreams,both night and day.With the balance of his devotion now upset,his fear of God begins to eat away at his senses.

Middle-aged Mr.Badii is planning to commit suicide and desperately seeks anyone to assist him - he has already dug out the grave in the mountains, but the assistant will have to bury him when he will do the deed. He asks Kurd soldier, Afghan seminarian, but everyone refuses by some reason. Finally he finds an old Turkish taxidermist, who has a sick son and previously attempted suicide himself, and he agrees to assist Badii.

Monsieur Ibrahim

In a street called Blue in a very poor neighborhood in Paris, Monsieur Ibrahim is an old Muslin Turkish owner of a small market. He becomes friend of the teenager Jewish Moises, tenderly nicknamed Momo, who lives with his father in a small apartment on the other side of the street. Monsieur Ibrahim gives paternal love and teaches the knowledge of the Koran to the boy, receiving in return love and respect.

Le Grand Voyage

Reda, summoned to accompany his father on a pilgrimage to Mecca, complies reluctantly - as he preparing for his baccalaureat and, even more important, has a secret love relationship. The trip across Europe in a broken-down car is also the departure of his father: upon arrival in Mecca, both Reda and his father are not the characters they were at the start of the movie. Avoiding the hackneyed theme of the return to the homeland, the film uses the departure to renew a connection between two generation.
