During this time, the term ‘psychedelia’ or the 'psychedelic' is often narrowly understood as a visual style, music, graphics or fashion trends only. Whereas 'psychedelia' is the name for a variety of expressions that are inspired by the counterculture youth movement, which first appeared in the United States and England in the 1960’s until the 1970’s, following the occurrence of various political crises Post-World War II, and the commencement of the Cold War between West Block and East Block (Capitalism and Communism). As part of the greater antiestablishment movement, psychedelic upheld the principles of individual liberty, and created an alternative to the social and political norms which restrained everyone. The attitude of freedom finally pushed a lifestyle which was fraught with experimentation, including with psychoactive substances and hallucinogenic, like marijuana, and LSD and psilocybin.

The exhibition was inspired by psychedelic culture as a phenomenon of 20th century which was revolutionary and interdisciplinary. For centuries, the creative process of visual art or artistic practice was almost always associated with the realization/manifestation of an inner disposition or internal qualities of human beings. In addition of reaching various art disciplines (literature, music, and movies), psychedelic also inspired the science world and the realm of spirituality inspired by Eastern religions. The works are rooted in the exploration of unconscious world, transcendental spiritualism, spirit of primitivism, jeprut, etc would be paired together under the term of ‘post-psychedelia'. Referring to the notion in Greek, psychedelic indeed highly correlated with the jargon of 'self expression': Psyche (soul) and Delein (manifesto).
